From our Founder’s Heart

Over 20 years ago, I opened my first dance studio. I was young, ambitious, and felt like I had something to prove to the world. At the time, my focus was on being the best — winning awards, building a reputation, chasing perfection. And while that studio was successful in many ways, something always felt like it was missing.

It wasn’t until I became a parent myself that I began to see dance through a different lens. I realized that dance isn’t about being the best or winning trophies — it’s about falling in love with movement, with self-expression, and with the joy that comes from truly connecting to music and your own body.

That realization changed everything for me. I knew I wanted to create something different — a space where dancers could train at a high level without sacrificing the other important parts of their lives. I wanted to build a community that valued not just great technique, but also kindness, balance, and personal growth.

Now, eight years into Motion, I truly believe we’ve created something special. Our dancers receive exceptional training, but they also have time to enjoy their families, their friends, their academics, and other interests. Some of our students have gone on to build careers in dance; others haven’t. But what they all carry with them — regardless of where life takes them — is a deep love of movement and a lasting understanding of what balance really means.

Thank you for being part of this journey. I’m so proud of what we’ve built together.

Dancer Development & Opportunities

  • Each year, dancers receive thousands of dollars in scholarships to support their dance education, making high-level training more accessible and empowering students to pursue their passion without financial barriers.

  • Dancers have the opportunity to participate in meaningful community performances, sharing their artistry while giving back and learning the value of service and connection.

  • Company dancers mentor and assist younger students at Motion Dance Movement, inspiring the next generation of dance artists and fostering leadership, confidence, and a sense of responsibility.

  • Our dancers grow in more ways than just technique. They develop teamwork, time management, creativity, and resilience—skills that carry into school, careers, and life. They also learn the importance of balance, self-expression, and cultivating a supportive community.

  • Many of our dancers go on to pursue dance at the collegiate level and in professional settings, building on the strong technical foundation and performance experience they gained at eMotion Dance Company. For those who choose a different path, the skills developed through dance—tenacity, discipline, teamwork, creativity, and a strong work ethic—equip them to succeed in any area of life.
